I talk to the dead. Some of my friends and clients talk to the dead. Do you talk to the dead? Do you tell anyone about it? What do people say when you bring it up? Have you found your soul tribe who will allow you to talk about it and ask questions, without judgment? Are you telling the stories of the dead?
It’s been my experience that my ancestors and other people’s ancestors will show up in my reality to try to get my attention. Why? Well, there are many possibilities. Let’s explore a few. How many of these have you experienced? What else have you experienced? Please share in the comments.
We have a journey to take together because we created a soul contract that allows us to have certain agreed upon experiences so we can heal pieces of our souls.
The ancestors have something to convey to others and they need someone to hear them so it can be done. Maybe it’s passing a message to someone or helping a group of people.
You require healing assistance so the ancestors show up to guide you, if you are willing to pay attention.
Some ancestors are there to help you with a specific area of life, like business. For me, many ancestors, both mine and other people’s, showed up to help me network with other military researchers and healers. They helped me write my books, create and teach my classes, and assist clients. They have shown me the path to learn more about spirituality, healing, and more.
There are lessons for you to learn and by working with the ancestors, you will journey together to learn them and heal. You may also be asked to teach others what you have learned.
Some ancestors need to travel and see things through your eyes. This will require you to take a trip or two so this can happen. Usually once the ancestors sees whatever or does whatever, through your eyes or your assistance, they are ready to move on.
There will be ancestors who need their story told publicly and guess what - they’ll chose YOU to write and tell it. But don’t worry - they will make it relatively easy for you. The right information, resources, people, travel, and opportunities will arise. This won’t be completely simple to do because it will require you to also do your own healing on the journey.
And there are many other reasons why they show up.
What do we do if an ancestor reaches out?
The best thing to do if an ancestor appears is to tune into yout intuition and higher self, angels and guides, whomever you believe in. Check in with yourself to see if this ancestor is here for benevolent reasons or negative/evil reasons. Not all ancestors are healed and safe to work with.
If you feel they are ok, ask them what they want or need. Listen to what they have to say. Choose what you’d like to do. You are never under any obligation to help them. Boundaries are important.
If an ancestor continues to try for your attention, there is probably a big plan at play that your soul knows but maybe your conscious self doesn’t quite realize. Again, check in with your intuition or higher self and see.
When my cousin James Privoznik showed up in 2012, he made it very clear through four people over one weekend, that I was supposed to pay attention to him. We had a journey to take together. At the start I had no idea where it would take me. In the end I wrote a lot of books, traveled Europe, met and married a Dutchman and lived a life on two continents until the world changed in 2020 and the beginning of the end began. Along the way however, James and I healed a lot of pieces of ourselves and helped others do the same.
What did James require from me? In part, to learn how to do the research then teach others. To learn how to open up more on my spiritual journey. To forgive, which had to come after some brutal truths were revealed on my first trip to Europe. To open my heart to love which happened after my second trip to Europe. To take chances and go down a deep dark rabbit hole of my past lives, ancestral traumas, and personal life experiences to release the darkness, toxicity, negative beliefs, behaviors and family patterns and get incredibly honest about the energies I brought to relationships and the world. THAT was humbling.
James also required my first trip to Europe so he could do some of his own healing and see Europe through my eyes. Several things happened on that trip that I could only chalk up to, ‘James needs to be here now for some reason.’
I was also required to tell James’ story. And the stories of my other ancestors who died in war.
When the story must be told.
If an ancestor comes to you and requests their story be told, one question you must ask is, ‘HOW’? Here are a few other things to consider.
What part of the life of this person do I need to share?
What information is available? Who can help me obtain or understand it?
Who do I need to meet as I research, write and share the story?
Where will I need to go on this journey?
How does my life, story, wounds and gifts intertwine with this ancestor?
Is this story only about this ancestor or am I part of it too?
What lessons can be learned here?
What voice and perspective do I use to write the story?
How do I share the story?
An ancestor’s story is not always just about them. If they are asking us to communicate and write it so it can be shared, there is always a deeper reason. If you are being called by an ancestor to tell their story, look for the similarities between your life and theirs. Ask the ancestors some of the above questions. Don’t be afraid to feel things as you research and write - usually this helps us heal some forgotten things and deeply seeded energies. Know that it’s possible their story will include part of yours.
Finally, be sure to take care of yourself as you research and write. This work can be emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually impactful. Not always in positive ways. We might be triggered and need someone to help us process what comes up. We might need our soul tribe to support us, listen to us process, or provide feedback on the story. We need to take breaks now and then because research and writing can be all consuming, especially if we are doing massive healing work at the same time. Find support so you have it when you need it.
What has your experience been with ancestral communication? Have you written their stories? How did that change or impact your life?
